Clean Air meeting, via Zoom, October 26th, 6-8pm
Arbor Lodge NA is trying to re-create a Clean Air Committee. The new Chair, Bob Meehan, will be out of town for this important meeting. If you are interested, please reply to board@arborlodgeneighborhood.com and we'll provide you with the link and some background info. Here is a little info to help you decide. Even though these sites are not in Arbor Lodge, they can impact the air here too. Thanks for considering.
On 10/26/21, Northeast Coalition of Neighborhoods and North Portland Neighborhood Services will host a public meeting to address the concerns about air toxics and health risks from four North and Northeast Portland Industrial Facilities. These industrial sites are currently in evaluation by the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) through the Cleaner Air Oregon Program. Clustered along the North edge of Portland, along the Columbia River, the sites are located in three neighborhoods: Cully, Kenton, and St. Johns.

A Focus Group is forming for the Arbor Lodge Shelter
Hello fellow community members!
A focus group for the design of the Arbor Lodge Shelter (at the former Rite Aid Site) is forming!
The Joint Office of Homeless Services, Multnomah County, and Do Good Multnomah are looking for input!
The focus group will be a team of 6-8 community members. The group will provide input for the design of the long-term transitional shelter planned to open fall of 2023 at 1952 N. Lombard. At this time, major changes are not planned for the exterior of the building. We are looking for input on design of the exterior of the site – such as the parking lot, fencing, and landscaping. For more information on the Arbor Lodge Shelter, please see: http://ahomeforeveryone.net/arborlodge
Total time commitment is 4 hours spaced over 4 meetings. The 4 meetings will occur between October, 2021, and April, 2022. Focus group members will gather 4 times for an hour each, to offer feedback on the design of the long-term shelter.
The first 3 meetings are planned for:
Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2021, 5-6pm
Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2021, 5-6pm
Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2021, 5-6pm
To apply to participate in the focus group or to nominate a community member, please contact Andrea Matthews at andrea.matthews@multco.us. Please respond with your interest or nomination by October 21, 2021.
Thank you,

Update: October 7th 2021
We need you! The Arbor Lodge Tree Team still needs 4 volunteers to help put those little (and informative) tags in plants for our Sparrowhawk Native Plant Pick up.
Volunteer Date: Thursday, October 21st
Time: 1-5
Where: the parking lot of Peace Lutheran Church, corner of Liberty and Newcastle
Rain or shine some of us will be working hard label over 9,000 plants reserved for pick up that Friday and Saturday. No need to be able to ID the plants, but you'll likely learn to recognize some in the process. So come join your neighbors, help the Tree Team earn funds to buy fruit trees and blueberry bushes to give away next spring, and have some fun too.

And thanks for considering joining us.

ALNA Elections | October 21st
Arbor Lodge Neighborhood Association is holding elections at our October 21st meeting!
Maybe you should consider running for a position on the Board!
What positions are open? All of them - yes, there are some folks who are willing and want to continue, and there is always room for new folks!
Here are the open positions and the commitment:
Secretary - takes Minutes at meetings - bullet style, keep it simple, sends Minutes to NPNS via email monthly once approved.
Vice Chair - supports Chair and takes on duties as assigned by Chair or volunteers for other duties according to their interest
4-5 At Large Board members - show up for ALNA monthly meetings and share your opinions and experience, etc. An At-Large Board member can lead a Committee of their interest, but it is not expected.
Three areas without leadership at this time include:
Transportation - from Vision Zero to Portland in Motion there is a lot happening and Arbor Lodge needs representation as decisions are made in Portland
Clean Air - Purple Air Monitors? Diesel emissions? What can Arbor Lodge residents do, and can you help us stay informed?
Parks Coordinator - this person or persons coordinate volunteers for 4-6 garden work parties a year to maintain the pesticide free status of Arbor Lodge Park. And, you can make this into a Park Advocate position if you are interested.
We have fun as a Board, we have projects that make a difference in our community, and you can be part of it.
ALNA meetings are online through zoom. When it is safe to meet in person, ALNA will continue to provide the ability to attend our meetings online.
